Mangaluru, July 09, 2019: The police who had been to arrest a rowdy sheeter wanted in connection with the attack on a mango merchant on suspicion of cattle theft, had to fire at the accused in self-defence when he attacked the cops near Adyar on July 9, Tuesday morning.

The accused is Bhavith Raj. The cops who had gathered hint that he was at Adyar had launched an operation to nab him. It is learnt the accused tried to attack the cops following which Kankanady inspector fired at him.
Bhuvith Raj has eight cases against him in Kankanady police station.
Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil and other senior officials have visited the spot.
The incident of attack on a mango merchant named Ummar Farooq (32) had taken place near Kulashekhar Chowki last Sunday. However, on inspector Farooq’s vehicle had only mangoes and not cattle.
