Cops arrest accused in cattle trafficking case

Mangaluru, Dec 27, 2014:  A person from Ullal who is wanted in several case including cattle smuggling and drug trafficking, has been arrested by the police.

The accused identified as Mohammad Saleem alias Siri Saleem  of Ullal Miillatnagar is said to be an accused in the case of trafficking a cow  by cramming it in a Maruti Alto vehicle in a  inhuman fashion on December 1 at Karinje village.

The cattle trafficking case came to light after the vehicle had rolled into a roadside drain. Mohammad and others in the car had fled the place leaving the cattle and lethal weapons  hidden under the car seat.

A special team was later formed  by the police to  nab the accused in the case. Mohammad is learnt to have  admitted that the Maruti Omni was stolen from Goa and was used to transport the stolen crow from Kodangal near Moodbidri.

Police said he was wanted in drug peddling, murder attempt and robbery cases too.
