Cop’s leg fractured in assault by murder accused

Bantwal, Jan 18 2020: A police constable who had been to arrest an absconding accused in a murder attempt case, was assaulted and pushed  resulting in a leg fracture at Siddakatte near Bantwal on Thursday night.



The accused Nawaz (42) of Thumbay Ramalkatte    had even failed to appear for court hearings. The  constable Mahendra has suffered a fracture in his left leg due to the assault.

The police had recently gathered information that the accused was moving around in Siddakatte area.  Based on the information constables Mahendra, Ravi, and Madhav had been to arrest him when the latter pushed Mahendra. Meanwhile the other two constables managed to arrest the culprit.

 The injured constable is being treated at a hospital in Mangaluru.
