Congress workers unhappy about party’s fall from glory

Mangalore, Mar 23: A number of discontented activists of the Congress party have decided to submit their resignations. M. G. Hegde, Shashiraj Shetty, and S. A. Majid told reporters that some of them have decided to submit a memorandum to G. Parameshwara, the chairman of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, informing him about the pathetic condition of the party and demanding justice. The three have suggested a solution to the problem, and if the solution cannot be implemented, they have opted to resign from the party.

 

In the memorandum, the three have clarified that they do not intend to point out the party’s failures, but wish to bring the president’s attention to the fact that some party workers are unhappy that the party no longer has the number one position it once enjoyed in cooperate organizations, local organizations, city corporations, Zilla Panchayats, and parliamentary and legislative constituencies. They urged the party’s top leaders to find out ways to restore the Congress to its previous glory.

The three have suggested ways to reorganize the party and establish a culture of collaborative effort and decision making. They have demanded that the district president should devote all his/her time in strengthening the Congress at the root levels. They have suggested that all the party leaders should function in unity, and those who cannot conform to the ideals of the party should be expelled. They have stressed the need to form a common ideology and chalk out programmes to fight saffron forces.

The three Congress workers have also urged leaders such as Janardhan Poojary, Oscar Fernandes, Ramanath Rai, Veerappa Moily, Vinay Kumar Sorake, and Abhayachandra Jain to discuss the issue and think of ways to reorganize the Congress party in DK.
