Mangaluru, March 14: Congress will lose Nanjangud, Gundlupet bypoll as long as Siddaramaiah is CM said veteran congressman Janardhana Poojary in press conference today, March 14, 2017.

He said that Congress will lose Nanjangud and Gundlupet bypoll if Siddaramaiah continues as chief minister of the state and urged the Congress high command to replace Siddaramaiah with G Parameshwara as the Chief Minister immediately.

Janardhana Poojary

Over the past three years, Siddaramaiah has become arrogant and has not done anything for the betterment of the people. It is time to change him and bring another able leader for the rest period.  He said that G Parameshwara is an able leader and he can steer the party to victory in the bypoll in Nanjangud and Gundlupet.

The party lost S M Krishna only because of  Siddaramaiah’s arrogance. "S M Krishna is an able senior Congress leader. He has proved his ability as Chief Minister and Central Minister. S M Krishna would not have left Congress party if he was given him due respect and consulted him in party matters.

The bye-elections for Gundlupet and Nanjangud are due to be held on March 2, April 9. The bypoll for Nanjangud seat necessitated after the resignation of veteran Congress leader V Srinivas Prasad in December 2016. Meanwhile, Gundlupet constituency fell vacant after the death of H C Mahadeva Prasad on January 3.

Janardhana Poojary also slammed the BJP for their claims of gaining more seats than any other party in the history of Indian politics. In the year 1985, Congress party led by former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi had won 411 seats as against 282 seats won by Narendra Modi, he said. “What is happening in Goa and Manipur in unconstitutional” he added.
