In his protest speech, MLA B. Ramanath Rai said that the Congress welcomes the governor’s move to dissolve the BJP-led state government and introduce presidential rule. This is the only way to stop corruption in Karnataka, he added.

He also urged the central government to accept the governor’s report and to order a thorough CBI probe into the various corrupt activities B. S. Yeddyurappa stands accused of.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA U. T. Khader said that the governor’s recommendations ought to be considered and that the state needs presidential rule for its welfare.

The Congress also burned effigies of CM B. S. Yeddyurappa and urged the Supreme Court to consider the center’s recommendations and bring the state under president’s rule.

Congress leaders shouted slogans and also organized a jail bharo programme as part of their protest. They also burst crackers although they had not obtained the permission to do so.

Congress workers Dennis D’Silva, Suresh Ballal, Shashidhar Hegde, Ivan D’Souza, Naveen D’Souza, and others were also present.
