Congress organizes dharna against BJP- led state government

Mangalore, May 19: The DK District Congress organized a dharna in front of the DC’s office on May 19, Thursday, protesting against the BJP-led state government in general and against CM B. S. Yeddyurappa in particular.

Delivering the protest speech, Ivan D’Souza, the general secretary of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), said that the BJP-led state government is guilty of being disrespectful to the Indian Constitution. 

Welcoming the governor’s move to dissolve the state government and introduce the president’s rule, he said that this is the only way to curb corruption in the state. He also urged the centre to accept the governor’s report and to initiate a CBI probe in the alleged corrupt activities of various BJP members and CM B. S. Yeddyurappa in particular. 

G. A. Bhawa, a Congress leader, accused BJP leaders of attempting to confuse the public with various tricks. He also pointed out that national magazines such as The Outlook have carried cover stories on how the BJP-led state government is the most corrupt government in India.

Speaking on the occasion, KPCC Secretary Badruddin said that the S. M. Krishna’s government is the best government that the state ever had. Stating that even the Supreme Court has ruled that the BJP government is the worst government in the state’s history, he said that such a government should never come to power again. 

Former MLA Vijay Kumar Shetty, Congress leader Shashidhar Hegde, Moideen Bawa, Arun Coelho, P. A. Mohan, Santhosh Kumar Shetty, Mithun Rai, Nagesh Kumar, Praveenchandra Alva, Azeez, Ahraf, and many others also participated in the protest meet.
