Mangalore, Jan 17, 2014: GV Srirama Reddy, State Secretary of the CPI(M) has demanded that the perpetrators of the Derlakatte kidnap, forced sex and blackmail case should be booked under Goonda Act.
He was addressing a protest organised by the party in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangalore on January 16, Thursday demanding stringent punishment to all the eight arrested in the case. He further strongly felt that the fundamentalists of both the Hindu and Muslim communities have gone to the extreme in the district.
Reddy also demanded the arrest of RSS leader Kalladka Prabhaker Bhat for his provocative speech aimed at creating a rift between two communities. He further charged the Congress and the BJP of making every move only with an eye on the upcoming LS polls and accused the Congress of being afraid to arrest Bhat solely for the fear of losing Hindu votes.
Several party leaders participated in the protest.
