Mangalore, April 18, 2013: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily has said that the Congress enjoyed double the public support all over the state this time, when compared to the previous elections.
He was addressing press men during his visit to the Mangalore South Election office of the party on April 18, Thursday. Moily recollected his participation in the 2008 election campaign and said compared to last time, the Congress was enjoying a huge support this time and would come to power with an absolute majority.
Commenting on the process of selection of candidates, he said the Congress has selected the candidates in a true democratic way after several rounds of survey and talks, thereby trying to ensure social justice.
To a question on rebellion by former minister Vasanth Salian in Kaup, Moily said “Salian has been given a Congress ticket seven times and he was elected five times and has become a minister twice. The party has not done injustice to him and this fact is known to the electorate He said the allegation that injustice has been done to Salian was baseless.
