Mangaluru, April 21, 2015 : Several top leaders of the Congress party from the state are expected to participate in the foundation laying ceremony of the Congress Bhavan at Mallikatta here on April 24.
Informing this to reporters here at the District Congress Office, Ibrahim Kodijal, interim President of the District Congress Committee said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lay the foundation stone for the Bhavan at 4.30 pm that day.
The function will be presided over by KPCC Chief Dr G Parameshwar, while several party leaders including B Ramanatha Rai, DK District in-charge Minister, UT Khader, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Abhayachandra Jain, Minister for Youth Services and Sports, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Udupi District in-charge Minister, M Veerappa Moily, former union minister, Oscar Fernandes, MP, JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, MLAs, Ivan D’Souza, MLC, B Janardhana Poojary, senior Congress leader, Revenue Minister Srinivas Prasad, Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes, Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Mayor of Mangaluru, Shakuntala Shetty and Vasanth Bangera, MLAs will grace the occasion.
Kodijal while extending an invitation to all to attend the ceremony hoped that the construction of the Congress Bhavan will be completed in a month’s time.
Giving details of the project, he said the Bhavan will be constructed on a 9 cents of Government land at Mallikatta and will have ground plus two floors measuring 9,351 square feet. The building will house chambers for all block Congress Presidents, District Congress President, office rooms as well as a press meet room.
Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Mayor and Shashidhar Hegde, former mayor were also present at the press meet.
