Mangaluru, Apr 04, 2019: District Congress Spokesperson A C Vinay Raj has challenged the BJP leaders who are questioning the contributions of the Congress, for an open debate on the contributions of the BJP to the district in the past 28 years as well as the contributions of its MP in the past ten years.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress Office on April 4, Thursday, he alleged that there were no proper toilet facilities as well as drinking water and electricity connection in the MP’s Adarsha Grama.
Referring to the Smart City Project, he said though the BJP is claiming this as its achievement, in reality the Central Government contribution to this Rs 2,100 crore project was just Rs 500 crores while Rs 500 crore has to be borne by the state government and the balance amount by local administrative bodies.
Referring to the incomplete Pumpwell and Thokkottu fly over works, Vinay Raj dubbed the local MP Nalin Kumar Kateel as King of Failures.
The MP has also been often stating about upgradation of Mangaluru Railway station which has not happened, he alleged.
He said it was during the tenure of the Congress MPs that the district had NMPT, Airport, NITK and other prominent institutions.
He also exuded confidence that the district would vote for Congress candidate Mithun Rai this time.
Congress leaders T K Sudhir, Vishwas Das, Sadashiv Ullal and others were present.
