Udupi, Oct 01, 2015: With the compulsory helmet rule for students coming into effect in the city on October 1, Thursday, over 200 NSS and NCC students of Milagres College, Kalianpur took out a bike rally to sensitise the youth regarding the new rule. The rally was flagged off by Fr Stany B Lobo at the College premises.
Udupi District Superintendent of Police Annamalai who spoke on the occasion, appreciated the college and the students for their initiative in creating awareness regarding the new rule. All colleges will have to follow the rule by this week, the SP stated. He said the Police Department has already issued notices to all 32 colleges regarding the new rule.
The bike rally culminated near the SP office after passing through the main roads of the town.
The SP who spoke to media men on the occasion said the Department will embark on a document checking operation in the next few days. The Department was also giving importance to spreading awareness through social media, he said.
Milagres College Principal, Dr Neri Cornelio, P Yuvaraj, Udupi CMC President, Niyananda, NSS Officer, Chandrashekhar, DySP and others were present.

Helmet must be compulsory but along with that we should also follow the traffic rules and a speed limit only, then we are safe drivers.
