College girls suspended after their photo with liquor bottles goes viralKukke Subrahmanya police told The Hindu that they received a representation from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) that the girls in the image were from the degree college and it sought an investigation as the image had been in circulation since August 11. On inquiry, the college principal told the police that the two girls were from the college and that he had taken “disciplinary action” against them on Friday.

The police said that they have not registered any case based on the representation from the ABVP. The two girls have also not filed any complaint against any one for circulating the image on WhatsApp. When contacted, the college principal said that the girls have been suspended pending inquiry. Asked about the suspension, the principal said: “We need to do it as they are our students and the image has been widely circulated.” No date had been fixed for completing the inquiry, he added.

He said that the girls had admitted that the image in which they were seen pertained to a trip they had been with friends two years ago to Madikeri. The girls said that liquor bottles had been brought to the party hosted in Madikeri. The principal said that the parents of the two girls had told him that they had permitted their children to go on the trip but they were unaware of what their wards did on the trip.
