Mangaluru, May 31, 2018: Coast Guard ship Vikram rescued nine fishermen from distressed fishing boat off Mangaluru coast.
A message was recieved by Maritime rescue Co-ordination centre Mumbai from Saint Anthony fishing boat with nine crew members onboard distressed in position off Mangaluru coast due to engine failure.
Immediately coastguard ship Vikram based at New Mangaluru port diverted by coastguard regional headquaters Mumbai to render assistance to the stranded boat. However the engine defect could not be rectified at sea view being critical in nature.
Subsequently the ship took the distressed fishing boat under tow to Kochi was handedover to another fishing boat Jasmine in position for onward passage to Kochi port. Thereafer the ship resumed patrol in designated area.
