The initiative involves making people unite and launch a campaign to keep Derebailu South Ward (Ward Number 24) clean and green. Citizens including members of various organisations and people’s representatives will create awareness on cleanliness through door-to-door visits.

Residents will be requested not to dump waste on public places and encourage them to plant saplings. "The ’Clean and Green Ward 24’ is a self-motivated campaign, which will be carried out through a friendly approach," Rajaneesh said adding that citizens will be participating in the campaign voluntarily.

"It is our duty to convince people about need for keeping our environment clean and thereby lead a healthy life. Hence, people should join the campaign to make the city clean and green," Rajaneesh said.

A meet of all volunteers participating in the campaign and residents of the ward will be organized at Lady Hill Victoria School on September 27. Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred will preside over the meet, he added.

Cleanliness in the city can be maintained only when every citizen takes oath to him self by not littering waste here n there. Never dispose the waste on the road side instead put it in the waste bins. Especially during some religious get together’s.
