Clash between Central Market merchants and street vendors prevails tension

Mangalore, Jan 4, 2013: A clash erupted between street vendors and Central Market merchants, after the market vendor staged the protest against the street vendors in front of Central Market on Jan 4, Saturday.

 

 

 

 

During the protests staged by Central Market merchants’ association against the street vendors selling their goods in the area went out of control, when the street vendors began to shout slogans against the protestors.

When Hameed Kandak, president of Central Market merchants’ association was addressing the protestors, two of the street vendors even began moving towards him and were stopped by the police.

As both parties began to shout slogans against each other, the situation when out of control and police had to resort to lathi charge to disperse the crowd.

After some time, honorary president of street vendors’ association Sunil Kumar Bajal who arrived at the spot, had a verbal clash with the police and later he along with B K Imtiyaz was also taken into custody.

The road was completely crowded during the clash.
