City muslims hold "Namaz" for rain

Mangaluru, May 02, 2016: Devout Muslims of the city organised by South Karnataka Salafi Movement conducted a special "Namaz" at Nehru Maidan here on May1, Sunday, they offered prayers for rain to alleviate the acute water crisis and heat.

Khateeb of Nandavar Salafi Jumma Masjid Ahmed Ali Qasimi led the prayers. In his sermon, the Khateeb stressed the importance of using water judiciously. He cautioned people not to take God’s gift for granted and misuse it. The Khateeb noted that only when people face water shortage, they understand it’s importance.

The special prayers are referred to as "Namaz-e-Istisqa". The gathering comprised men, women and children. Movement president Abdul Razak and secretary Basheer Ahmed were present.

Being practical we are suffering for our own mistake. Mann has cut down forest and built huge buildings,concrete roads are constructed by cutting down a large number of trees. if we keep destroying the nature the result will always be cnegative
