He is among the six children selected as Junior Ambassadors from the country by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) India. Chaperon Mrs. Meenakshi Bhatnagar would lead the children.  Every year, children from 44 countries participate in the programme.

Anoop A. Rao is the son of Anil Kumar J., and Shailaja Rao, residing near Sharavu Temple, K. S. Rao Road, Mangalore.

The governments concerned select the participants in other countries; only in India, the participants are selected by the JCI, said his father Anil Kumar J., who is also the Past President of the JCI Mangalore.

The main aim of this convention is to have inter-cultural exchange and to make the children “Global Citizens,” wherein they learn to respect different races, people, culture and beliefs. The focus of the programme is to make the children think of the world beyond national boundaries and foster “peace and co-existence.”

Though there is no selection criterion, students skilled in classical dance, singing, sports, sociability, inter-personal relationship and other extracurricular activities apart from their academic performance are chosen.

Anoop is a young hobby magician and is an avid stamp collector with a collection of over 1000 stamps. The students have to submit the required proof of their talent in different fields and also their academic records to the selectors, as the selection process takes nearly a year.
