Mangaluru, Jan 7, 2015: The city police have arrested two persons in connection with a theft case reported from the PC Mallappa and Company at Highlands in the city.
The arrested are Mohammad (30) of Panemangalore and Mohammad Asheef (27) of Ira village. Police have seized stolen goods worth Rs 14.35 lakhs which the two had sold to a scrap shop at Bikarnakatte.
The theft had taken place on July 19 and the company manager had lodged a complaint stating that sanitary fittings and a cash of Rs 49,181 were stolen. The value of the stolen goods including cash was estimated at Rs 6.93 lakhs.
The duo were arrested on January 7, Tuesday. Initially, Mangalore South Police Inspector Dinaker Shetty intercepted two young men who were on a two-wheeler with a gunny bag on the Rosario Church Road. When the two failed to stop, the cops chased the vehicle and arrested the two. During interrogations the duo admitted their guilt. Interrogations also revealed that they were also involved in thefts in Naguri and Kadri.
Further investigations are underway.
