Mangaluru, Dec 25, 2014: The city of Mangaluru is celebrating Christmas with gaiety, joy and religious fervour. Thousands of faithful visited the churches in their respective parishes on December 24 evening for the traditional Christmas masses and offered their obeisance to the Lord.
Mangaluru Bishop Rev. Aloysius Paul D’Souza led the mass held at the Rosario Cathedral. Speaking on the occasion, the Bishop stressed the need for each and every individual to live in peace and harmony by loving one and all. It is only then that Christmas celebrations can be meaningful, he added.
Expressing his regret over the present situation in the society where hatred is spread, he said God’s blessings can be received only when a person serves the society selflessly.
Fr. JB Crasta, Parish Priest, Fr Amith Rodrigues, Fr Lawrence D’Souza, Fr Prakash D’Souza and several others participated in the Mass.
A cake was also cut on the occasion by the Bishop to mark Christmas.
Colourful cribs in front of houses and churches are an added attractions of Christmas celebrations.
