Christmas is for peace, harmony, Udupi Bishop

Udupi, Dec 22, 2016: Most Rev Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Catholic Diocese, said on Dec 21, Wednesday that the festival of Christmas symbolised love, happiness, peace, joy and harmony.

In his Christmas message, Dr. Lobo said that at a time when the present-day society was torn owing to oppression, fear, terrorism, violence, and inequality, Christmas, which gave Jesus Christ’s message of peace and compassion, was more relevant. This festival also emphasised of ethical conduct among people. The message of being kind, humane, peaceful, and compassionate was essential not just for families and societies, but also was a solution for the many problems faced by countries in the world. “May this festival usher in peace and harmony in the world,” he said. It was only peace and love emerged from the hearts of the people, that it left a lasting impact on the society. Christmas was a ray of hope for the under-privileged. Distribution of resources among the poor was the essence of celebrating Christmas, he said.
