Christmas celebration completes with helping needy: Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza

Mangalore, Dec 23, 2013: Bishop of Mangalore Most Rev Aloysius Paul D’Souza said that ‘A Church must be poor and for the poor’.

Delivering the Christmas message to the media at Bishop House on Dec 23, Monday, he said that the Mangalore Diocese would like to celebrate Christmas by extending a helping hand to all those who suffer due to poverty. The Diocese has also taken up various activities and projects in this direction to eradicate poverty from our society. The diocese will firmly assert and continue all those projects and programmes, he said.

 

Bishop said that Christians have a special mission and responsibility to eradicate poverty towards every religion and community. 

He urged the Christians to join hands with people of other religions too to wipe out poverty prevailing in the society. Every person, especially the poor of the society deserves respect and dignity.

Bishop said that Christmas celebration gets its real meaning when we love the poor; hence they must be treated with equality and must not discriminate them.  The Christmas celebration should inspire and motivates all to work for the poor and the needy.

Vicar General Msgr Denis Prabhu , chancellor Fr Henry Sequiera, Public Relation Officers Marcel Monteiro, Public Relationofficers Raymond D’Cunha and Elias Fernandes were present.
