Christians in Mangalore observe Palm Sunday with devotion

Mangalore, April 13, 2014: Heralding the beginning of the Holy Week, faithful from all over the city commemorated Palm Sunday in different churches in the city on April 13, Sunday. People of all ages took part in the sacramental procession around church premises holding tender palm leaves.

Palm Sunday marks the end of Lenten Season and is the Sunday before Good Friday. The day also marks the entry of Jesus to Jerusalem.

The palm leaves were then collected for blessing and later distributed to the faithful by the priests.

In Mangalore hundreds took part in the procession held at Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Milagres Church, Bendore, Valencia, Derebail Holy Redeemer and various other churches.
