The victim, Shobha, is a resident of Bollaru in 34-Nekkiladi. The SI interrogated those who cheated the woman and ensured that the amount was returned to her.

It was said that Shobha’s land was acquired for the widening of the national highway. The government had sanctioned Rs 5.20 lakh and the amount was credited to Shobha’s account on October 5, 2016. However, it was debited on the following day. She was paid a sum of Rs 94,200. She was told that the remaining Rs 4.30 lakh had to be paid to the officials.

When this issue came to the notice of the SI, he called the woman and verified the bank details. After conducting a thorough investigation, the police came to know that Sathish and another person had taken money from the woman.

The SI interrogated the duo and realised that an NHAI officer who is under suspension on the charges of misappropriation was also involved in it. All the three returned the money.
