Champions at maiden edition of GPL, are GSB friends, Kota

Mangaluru, April 12, 2017: Reports state that the maiden edition of GSB Premier League (GPL) concluded at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management grounds, Adyar; the team from Kota emerged winners of the tournament.

The event was organized by GPL Cricketers, unit of Sevanjali Charitable Trust and had eight teams vying for the top most spot.  GSB Friends, Kota defeated Kodial Super Kings by seven wickets to lift the maiden GPL trophy and Rs 1,55,555 cash award. While the runners-up took home Rs 88,888 and a trophy, R K Knight Riders who finished third, took home Rs 33,333 and a trophy.

Vedavyas Kamath, Convener of the event said that the community usually bonded at religious events but it was heartening to witness participants and stakeholders of the community come together for a sporting event.

Gautham Shenoy, owners of RK Knight Riders praising the organizer’s for their efforts said that the event would have received more response if it was organized in the city.

Santhosh Prabhu, Captain of the winning team said, “The win is history in the making for GSB Friends, Kota as the team has collectively won more than 120 such tournaments in the past.”
