Udupi, June 15, 2018: A court in Udupi has extended the judicial custody period of the 11 accused in the case of suspicious death of cattle trader Husainabba, till June 28.
Of the 11 accused, barring the three police personnel who are lodged in Karwar prison and are presently in hospital owing to illness, the rest eight accused were produced before the court.
The bail petition of the accused will be heard by the court on June 18.
The incident had taken place during the wee hours of May 30 when the vehicle of Husainabba which was transporting cattle was waylaid by the Bajrangdal activists along with the cops. While two others had fled, Husainabba who was caught was allegedly beaten up resulting in this death following which his body was reportedly dumped at Perdoor.
Investigations later on revealed that Husainabba had died while he was being taken to the police station in the police vehicle. Though it was earlier suspected that he might have died due to a cardiac arrest, the post mortem report has pointed out that he had died after suffering head injuries.
