CPI (M) protests against misappropriation of Dalit funds

Mangalore, Aug 4: CPI (M) activists organized a protest rally in front of the DCO gates on the evening of Aug 4 against the misappropriation of funds worth Rs. 750 crore earmarked for the welfare of Dalits. The protestors alleged that Congress leaders in Delhi have used the funds to construct a sports stadium.

Krishnappa Konchadi said in his protest speech that the Dalits have not experienced any economic growth during the 60 years of Congress rule in Delhi. While Dalit health and employment require a lot of money, funds earmarked for the welfare of SC/ST/OBC and other backward classes have been used for other activities, he alleged.

Munir Katipalla delivered a fiery speech in which he questioned the need to construct sports stadiums in a country where 60 percent of the population goes to bed hungry.

General Secretary (DK) of CPI (M) Yadava Shetty and a large number of CPI (M) activists participated in the protest rally.
