CM inaugurates ’Prakashabhinandana’; honours achievers

Mangaluru, Dec 26, 2019: Prakashabhinandana, a programme organised at Goldfinch City, Kulur to mark the 60th birthday celebrations of noted entrepreneur Prakash Shetty was inaugurated on December 25, Wednesday by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In his address, Yediyurappa hailed the contributions of  Prakash Shetty to the society through his philanthropic activities.

Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, State Minister for Tourism and Culture C T Ravi, Kannada actor Yash and a host of dignitaries spoke on the occasion.

’Hombelaku Abhinandana’, a book authored by Prakash Shetty was released by the Chief Minister on the occasion. A cheque  towards Rs 26 lakhs which also includes the Rs one lakh cash prize which Shetty got as part of Rajyotsava Award  was handed over to Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja  on the occasion towards rehabilitation of flood-hit people of the taluk.

Fifteen achievers in various fields were honoured on the occasion. Those honoured are :   Dr Amritha Someshwar (Literature), Dr B M Hegde (Medicine), Jaya Suvarna (Social service), R N Shetty (Social service) , Jagannath Shetty Pune (Social service), Appanna Hegde Basrur (Social service), Sara Aboobakkar (Literature) , Narayana Rao Padubidri (Religious field), M N Rajendra Kumar (Co-operative sector), L G Soans (agriculture), Koteshwara Laxminarayana Acharya (Sculpture), Bola Subbaiah Shetty (social service), Dr Chandrashekar Shetty (Medicine), Simanthoor Narayana Shetty (Yakshagana), Govinda Bhat Surikumeru (Yakshagana), Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna (Yakshagana) ,  Dr Sunitha Shetty (Literature)and Nagara Narayana Shenoy (Sports).

Chancellor of Nitte Deemed-to-be University N Vinay Hegde, DK District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MPs Nalin Kumar Kateel, Shobha Karandlaje, MLAs Vedavyas Kamath, Bharath Shetty,  Rajesh Naik. Actors Ravichandran, Haripriya and others were present on the occasion.
