Mangaluru, Nov 04, 2017: The National Level Karate Championship organised by the Self Defence School of Indian Karate Mangaluru Dojo was inaugurated at Nehru Maidan here on November 4, Saturday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said it was a pleasure to note that a national level Karate event was being organised in the city for the very first time. He also had a word of praise for Mayor Kavitha Sanil when he appreciated her for taking keen interest in organising the event in the city.
He also stressed the need for women to learn Karate as it is vital in self-defence. The trophies and medals to be awarded to the winners, were unveiled by the Chief Minister.
Speed painter Shabari Ganiga painted a portrait of Chief Minister on the occasion and handed it over to him.
DK District In-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Mayor Kavitha Sanil, MLAs Moidin Bava, Shakuntala Shetty, Abhayachandra Jain, entrepreneur Sadananda Shetty and many others were present.
