Hiriyadka, May 28, 2015:  Residents of Perampalli Sheembra and Kolalagiri Parari have been demanding a bridge to cross Swarna River to provide connectivity between Manipal and Kolalagiri for the past several years. The wish of the residents is likely to be realised shortly with the government approving the proposal.

Though Kolalagiri is situated close proximity to Manipal (just two kilometre), the residents have to travel over 20-km to reach the town, as the Swarna river flowing between Manipal and Kolalagiri.  The residents have been demanding a bridge between Sheembra in Perampalli and Parari to provide connectivity between Manipal and Kolalagiri. Now, the proposal has been included in Appendix E at an estimated cost of Rs 10 crore.

The government has already released Rs 5 crore for the purpose. The remaining Rs 5 crore will be released after the work commences. Officials are identifying the boulders beneath the water through trial bore machine. The work will commence after the tender process is complete. The bridge is likely to be completed in two years. .

Foundations have already been laid to construct a bridge between Aroor in Brahmavar and Belmaru and between Neelavara and Kokkarne. If the bridge between Sheembra and Parari is complete, then it will benefit the residents of Kolalagiri, Havange, Petri, Kokkarna and surrounding areas. It will provide easy connectivity to Manipal.

MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said that as per the poll promises, he has laid foundation for three to four bridges in his constituency.  The bridge between Sheembra- Parari is a long pending demand. The work will commence shortly after the tender process is complete and would be done in 2017.
