Brahmavar : Health assistant attempts suicide

Udupi, Oct 12, 2018: A  health assistant serving the Brahmavar Community Health Centre  has reportedly attempted suicide by consuming poison.

Nagaraj M E (24) who hails from Vittalpura in Bhadravathi taluk of Shivamogga district is the person who attempted suicide.  It is said the harassment meted out to him by the medical officer of the centre drove him to the extreme step. He is presently being treated at the ICU of Manipal Hospital.

Nagaraj who was earlier working at Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru as a contract worker was deputed to the Brahmavar Community Health Centre just three months ago. On October 10, he had reportedly  consumed phenyl and poison.

Nagaraj’s father Eshwarappa has alleged that his son had telephoned  him on October 10 to state that the medical officer  was harassing him.
