Mangalore, Jan 3, 2014: The district unit of Hindu Yuva Sena (HYS) staged a protest in front of the DC Office on Jan 3, Friday, demanding to take stringent action against the perpetrators of kidnap, forced sex and blackmail of Deralakatte case.
Prior to the protest, the protestors carried out jatha from Ambedkar Circle to DC’s office.
Addressing the protestors, Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupura Vajradehi Mutt said that the eight accused responsible for the atrocious crime must be charged with rape case and booked under Goonda Act.
He also said that the police department and the government have not taken any action against the accused. He even criticized Home Minister for remaining silent in the case without demanding any punishment, just with the sole reason that the accused are minorities.
Yuva Morcha leader Raghavendra said that in this case, the local politicians were trying to protect the eight accused. District in charge minister Ramanath Rai has maintained silence and trying to protect the accused on the basis of minorities lobby, he said.
He also said that the accused in the Deralakatte case are also ISI agents, hence the concerned department must conducted detailed probe into the case and punish the accused.
Prasanna Ravi, Sharan Pumpwell, Yashodhar Chowta, Shivakumar Kharje and others were present.
Later the protestors handed over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner.
