Body of Padubidri school girl who was washed away in floods traced

Padubidri, May 30, 2018: The body of a nine year old girl who was washed away in flood waters here on May 29, was found on Wednesday morning.

The girl Nidhi Acharya was a fourth student of SBVP Higher Primary School and daughter of Umesh Acharya and Asha couple of Padebettu. Nidhi and another girl Nisha were returning home from their school at 3 pm on Tuesday in their bicycle when both were washed away while crossing a mini bridge at Patla near Ermal Tenka Padebettu. Nisha who had managed to hold on to some sticks later raised a cry following which she was rescued by locals. However, Nidhi could not be traced. Her body was subsequently found on Wednesday morning.

Deputy Commissioner Priyanka Mary Francis visited the family of the deceased girl and consoled the grieving family members. A compensation of Rs 4 lakh has also been announced
