Bike rolls into under construction drain; miraculous escape for rider

Kundapur, Jan 16, 2015: A  young bike rider escaped the jaws of death by a hair’s breadth when his  bike accidentally fell into an under construction drain at Katkere near Koteshwar on January 15, Thursday evening.

The lucky bike rider is Niyaz (19) from Kalavara.  He escaped with minor injuries while his bike was badly mangled.

Locals complain that the drain is being constructed in an unscientific manner. Though sign boards warning motorists about the ongoing works are put up on both sides, it is said they are not visible to riders who are approaching from a distance. The drain is nine feet deep and 35 feet long.
