Bhatkal tense as man who attempted self-immolation during protest dies

Bhatkal, Sep 16,2017 : A man who had attempted self-immolation during a protest against the local TMC move to hold open auction of  shops, has  succumbed thereby sparking tension in the town on September 16, Saturday.

The deceased is Ramachandra Nagappa Naika (26) of Arasikere. Naika who had sustained   burn injuries was admitted to KMC Hospital in Manipal where he died.

The protest was held on Thursday and Ramachandra was the brother of one of the shop owners named Eshwar. Though Eshwar tried to rescue his brother, he too suffered burn injuries on his hands.

 Additional police personnel have been deployed in Bhatkal to prevent any eventualties as Naika’s body is being brought to the town for the funeral.
