Udupi, July 03, 2018: The hearing into the sensational businessman Bhasker Shetty murder case commenced amid tight security at the Udupi District and Sessions Court on July 2, Monday.
On the first day the prime witness and petitioner Gulabi Shedti, the mother of Bhasker Shetty deposed before the court. Her statement was recorded by District Public Prosecutor Shanti Bhai.
Today, Gulabi Shedti will be cross examined by Ashwini Kumar Joshi, the advocate for the accused.
The prime accused Rajeshwari Shetty, her son Navaneeth and Niranjan Bhat of Nandalike who are lodged in Parappana Agrahara prison in Bengaluru were not brought to Udupi owing to security reasons. They were present through video conferencing from Bengaluru. The other accused namely Niranjan Bhat’s father Srinivas Bhat and car driver Raghavendra who are facing charges of destroying evidence and are out on bail were present.
Of the total 167 witnesses, a total of 44 witnesses will be heard up to July 6 and from July 16 to 19.
