Bhasker Shetty case : All 5 accused to be produced before court today

 Udupi, Aug 24, 2016 :  The Udupi Police will be producing all the five accused in the businessman Bhasker Shetty murder case before the Udupi Court today. It may be recalled here that Shetty’s wife Rajeshwari (50), son Navaneeth (20),  self-proclaimed priest  Niranjan Bhat (26), his father Srinivas Bhat (26) and car driver Raghu alias Raghavendra (25) who have already been arrested are present ly in judicial custody and their custody period will expire today. Of the five,  Srinivas Bhat and Raghu have been arrested for trying to destroy evidences and have been booked under IPC section 201 which is bailable.

 

Misleading statements ?

It  has been reliably gathered that the statements made by the accused have been misleading.  Meanwhile, the statement of Rajeshwari’s mother that her daughter had   consigned the body of her husband to flames at the hands of her son, too has given room for doubts. Questions are being raised as to how Rajeshwari’s mother came to know about all these when the accused are behind bars. There is also a demand from some corners to subject Rajeshwari’s mother to  interrogation.

CID probe underway : The CID team which is in Udupi is conducting its investigation in a hush hush manner with not much information divulged to the media. There is also a possibility of the CID asking for the custody of the accused.

 CID DIG censures Manipal cops : Meanwhile, there is information that CID DIG who is in Udupi has reportedly censured officers of the Manipal police station for the initial  hiccups in the probe. The officer is expected to take all steps to expedite the investigation into the case.
