Mangalore, Jan 7, 2014 : Bharatlal Meena, District in-charge Secretary and Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Department has directed the MCC authorities to be ready with a plan for the proposed bus terminus at Pumpwell in the available seven acres land.
The officer said so when MCC engineers informed him that the acquired seven acres of land was insuffice as the project needed a total of 13 acres. Meena said as acquisition of further more land would delay the implementation of the project, the available land must be utilised for the project.
He further issued instructions to the authorities to take up the works of constructing a multi-level parking facility at the old service bus stand area in Mangalore at the earliest.
Referring to the problems of areca growers who are distressed due to Kole disease, Bharatlal Meena said a proposal has been forwarded seeking an additional Rs 10 crore as compensation to the growers.
When the issue of rehabilitation of Endosulfan victims came up, an officer informed that a five acre land has been identified at Alankar to open a treatment facility for the Endosuflan affected people. At present there were two day care centres apart from a physiotherapy centre. Two mobile health units are also operational for the benefit of those Endosulfan affected people who are bedridden, the officer said.
