Mangaluru, Jan 1, 2016 : Though the family members of Walter Saldanha, an accused in a cheating case, managed to get bail on December 30, Wednesday night, Belthangady Police Sub Inspector Sandesh P G has allegedly succeeded in getting a body warrant against him.  Hence, Walter continues to remain in prison and the bail obtained thorough court was of little help, it is said.

According to Walter’s family members, they obtained bail for Walter in the ’assault’ on police case. However, the police managed to get the body warrant in the cheating case and saw to it that Walter is not released.

Further position :  Meanwhile, out of the three persons who were allegedly beaten by the police in the lock-up on Monday night, Roopesh Saldanha and Elias Saldanha are recuperating. The doctors treating Anupam Godwyn suspect that his spinal cord might have been damaged due to alleged police excess as he is unable to sit.

"A clear picture would emerge after an MRI scan to be done," a family member told media.  It may be recalled that a scuffle between police personnel, including Sub Inspector Sandesh and the family members of Walter, allegedly resulted in the police assaulting all family members, including a Catholic nun, who was present to attend her brother’s wedding.
