Belthangady, Apr 17, 2018 : DCIB sleuths have arrested five persons and seized 850 kg of beef in two separate operations conducted at Guruvayanakere Junction and at Kukkedy on Guruvayanakere-Venoor Road on April 16, Monday. The value of the seized goods has been estimated at Rs 14.25 lakhs.
In the first incident, police who were on patrolling duty at around 4 am intercepted a Mahindra Xylo vehicles near Guruvayanakere Junction and arrested three persons namely Mustaq(50) from Kudroli, Mohammad Kabir (38) from Goltamajalu in Bantwal taluk and Abdul Jabbar (45) of Thumbay in Bantwal taluk. Police seized five cell phones and 450 kg beef from them.
In the second instance, a Mahindra Bolero vehicle was intercepted at Kekkedy on suspicion and police found 400 kg of beef. Two persons namely Ashraf (39) of Karinja and Razeem (25) from Bunder were arrested. It has been gathered that they were taking the beef to Mangaluru.
Police later buried the seized beef with permission from the court.
