Belthangady: Alcoholic couple’s quarrel ends in hubby’s murder; wife arrested

Belthangady, June 22, 2014: Police have arrested 21 year old Prashanthini (21) in connection with the suspicious death of her husband Harish (44) at their house at Panjalbail near Venoor on June 20, Friday night.

Police arrested the woman after questioning her when it came to light that she was responsible for the death of her husband  after a quarrel between the two in a drunken stupor.

The couple were alcoholic and on Friday night Harish allegedly pulled her hair when she retaliated and pushed him against the wall and strangled hin to death with the help of a rope.

The woman then locked the house and left to Harish’s sister Sharada’s house where she lied that her husband who was drunk had slept,but  was not waking up. When Sharada arrived and a doctor was summoned, it came to light that Harish was dead.

The Venur police grew suspicious about the cause of the death and seeing the wound around Harish’s neck and also the presence of a rope nearby took Prashanthini to custody when the truth stood exposed. Until then the woman was wailing and  no one had suspected her.

The deceased was an electrician and had married Prashanthini hailing from Bajagoli nearly six years ago. The couple has a  three year old daughter. Though they were quite happy, it is said Harish often suspected her fidelity.

Harish’s sister Sharada had lodged he police complaint and the accused Prashanthini  has  been produced before the court.
