Beltangady: July 19, 2015: A 25 year old man from Andra Pradesh lost his life after drowning at the Nethravati at Dharmashtala on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Shivanna, a resident of Gullahatti, Agari Mandala in Ananathour district.
It is learnt that Shivana along with 8 others family members had been to Dharmasthala to offer prayer. The family went to bathing ghats of Netravathi in the Morning.
Shivanna who stuck in the strong currents of the river allegedly drowned, though the people who tried to rescue failed to save his life. He was swept away with water and could not be traced till late evening.
The locals have urged the police to increase safety measures, as the number of deaths of Dharmasthala pilgrims have drastically increased.

How sad?Why the pilgrims take risk and loose life in the name of God? In summer the water will be measurable in the river, but during the rainy season the pilgrims have to be very careful before getting into the river as they may be sudden rise in the water level. | |

Why the people get into the river to have holy bath, when they do no know swimming? They themself are responsible for this. |
