Mangalore, June 13, 2014:  Women beedi workers, under the aegis of the AITUC  took out a   huge jatha in the city on June 13, Friday  to protest against the managements which have not disbursed their Dearness Allowance since the past two months.

The Beedi workers who converged near the Kankanady-Bendorewell Circle  expressed their anguish against  the Labour Department which has failed to act against the erring beedi companies. If the Department continues to maintain silence, then the organisation will have to resort to severe protest, they warned.

Hundreds of beedi workers participated in the protest.
