Mangaluru, Sep 2,2015 :Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protesting at KPT circle Sept 1, stated that the State government is neglecting government colleges and demanded that the basic facilities at government hostels and scholarships to SC/ST students should be provided.
Talking to ABVP Working Committee Member Chaithra came down heavily on the government complaining that many government hostels lack basic facilities like drinking water and sanitation, library and health/ sports equipment. Lecturer posts are still vacant in many colleges. Requests submitted in this regard have fallen on deaf ears.
Scholarships for SC/ST students have not been received for the past two years. The number of hostels should be increased in accordance with the growing demand. ABVP will intensify the protest, if the demands are not met.
Students carried out a protest rally from ITI College to KPT Circle. Venkatesh of Karnataka Polytechnic College, City Secretary Hitesh Bekal and others were present.
