Puttur, Aug 11, 2018: Uppinangady Police have arrested a person in Belthangady in connection with the case of sexually assaulting a student at a hostel in Mysuru. The accused is Mohammad Altaf (23) of Nellipalike in Maninalkur village of Bantwal.
It has been gathered that Altaf who works as a farm labourer in Belthangady, had on July 20, barged into the ladies hostel of KR Hospital in Mysuru after threatening the security guard and had tried to molest a nursing student. He was also facing charges of stealing garments of ladies from the hostel.
The CCTV camera of the hostel had captured his image. The incident had sparked protests with students boycotting the hostel.
Meanwhile, the police who were in search of Altaf who had gone absconding, managed to arrest him almost 20 days after the incident.
