Mangaluru, Feb 28, 2023: The Vittal police arrested two persons, including the wife of the victim on charges of murder. The arrested are Yogish Gowda, 34, from Vittal in Bantwal and Asha K, 32, from Idkidu in Bantwal.

Aravind Bhaskar, 39, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his house in Idkidu in Bantwal taluk, on Sunday. Doctors declared him dead after the body was taken to the Vittal community health centre.

Vitla murder

Dakshina Kannada SP Dr Vikram Amathe said that based on the complaint by a relative of the deceased and preliminary investigation, Vittal police registered a case of atrocity and murder. Since it’s an atrocity case, DSP Bantwal will take up further investigation.

In a complaint, Raghunath, a relative of the deceased, said that Bhaskar was constructing a house for the last two years and the centring work was carried out by Yogesh Gowda. It is alleged that Bhaskar was misusing the money that he had received after selling arecanut, which his wife Asha expressed objection to. On several occasions, Asha and Yogesh would allegedly assault him. Fearing this, Bhaskar would reportedly sleep alone by locking the room, the complainant said.

On February 26, Asha allegedly called the complainant’s father stating that her husband was not waking up in the room. Later, Bhaskar was shifted to the community health centre where doctors declared him dead. A case has been registered under IPC and SC/ST Act -2015.
