Bantwal : Thousands of parents protest against withdrawal of grants to Kalladka, Punacha schools

Bantwal, Aug 11,2017 : Thousands of parents of students studying in the Sri Rama Vidya Kendra of Kalladka and Sri Devi School at Punacha staged a protest on August 11, Friday in front of the Taluk Office at B C Road to condemn an order of the Mujrai Department which has deprived them of financial aid from Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple under its adoption scheme.

The protestors condemned the sudden decision to withdraw financial assistance under the adoption scheme and pointed out that majority of the students of the two institutions hail from backward classes SC/ST and poor families. They alleged that the grants to these two schools under the adoption scheme has been suspended deliberately at the behest of the DK District in-charge minister as an act of political vendetta.

The protestors also stated that they would continue their fight until the order was revoked. In a novel protest the students of the two schools too arrived at B C Road with their plates in hand and banged the plates as a mark of protest.
