Bantwal, Sep 11, 2019: In a broad daylight burglary, thieves have decamped with valuables worth nearly Rs 7.75 lakh from the house of a surveyor at Kasba village near SVS School in Bantwal on September 10, Tuesday.
The house belonged to Lohith N. The theft occurred at around noon when Lohith’s wife Veena was away for a short duration to purchase household items. The thieves made their way into the house by removing the cement sheet of an adjoining toilet. That Veena who had locked the cupboard had left the key nearby itself proved a boon to the thieves who stole 224 grams of gold ornaments and over 1 kg silver articles other than Rs 7500 cash.
Senior police officials have visited the spot.
