Bantwal : Tension in Kanyana following gang attack on youth

Bantwal, June 13,2017 :  Kanyana town in Bantwal taluk remained tense on June 12, Monday with shops and  business establishments shutting down after some people began brandishing weapons in the aftermath of the gang attack on a person at Muguli in Karopady village.

The victim Neklaje Mohammad Haneef has been admitted to a private hospital in Puttur with serious injuries. Sources said he was attacked after he was found striking a deal regarding sale of cow at Muguli bus stand area. It is said that Martanadi Dinesh and his  associates were behind the attack. They are now said to be absconding.

Soon after the attack, some people  said to be the supporters of Haneef were seen wielding weapons and attacking some of the assailants in the first case. It is reported that some sustained injuries  in these attacks.

 In another development, many people with weapons in hands forced shops to shut down and even hurled soda bottles and glasses on the road.

Additional police personnel have been deployed in the town.
