 Bantwal, Feb 28,  2014 :  DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology B Ramanatha Rai has informed that six more Day Care Centres for Endosulfan victims will be opened in addition to the already functioning centres at Kokkada and Kola.

He was speaking after distributing Stipend Eligibility Certificates to Endosulfan victims at a function held at Lions Mandir Manchi on February 27, Thursday. The function was held under the aegis of the District Administration, DK Zilla Panchayat and Health and Family Welfare Department.

Rai further said  the government has taken cognizance of the demand of the action committee for  permanent rehabilitation measures for Endosulfan victims.

He said a  re-survey of Endosulfan victims will be held from March 1 and  the eligible would be identified for government facilities.

Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim informed that  the cards have been distributed to 2189  beneficiaries out of the 2479 Endosulfan victims identified in the district. He added the rest will be distributed the certificates through the respective gram panchayats.

Mohammad Peer, Member of the Action Committee of Endosulfan victims. Dr Arun Kumar, District Nodal Officer, Sripathi Rao, President of Manchi Gram Panchayat, Prashanth, Assistant Commissioner, Malleswami, Tahsildar, Dr Lokanath, District Health Officer and Manjunath, Taluk Medical Officer were also present.
